The research will be mainly qualitative, using interview data and documentary analysis, supported by descriptive statistics. It will be a study of language in use by medical professionals, which will be used to build pedagogic materials and syllabuses.

| 研究成果の概要 |
この研究では、インタビュー調査、談話分析、コーパス分析とソフトウェアの設計・開発を組み合わせた。医療スタッフへのインタビューは病院で行われた。彼らが最も日常的に使用する英語は雑誌であった。研究チームは、大学医学部から提供された108の論文を分析した。医療行為に関する英語でのコミュニケーションをさらに調査するため、チームは特定の専門分野である内視鏡検査を選び、大腸内視鏡検査とポリープ切除の段階を記録し、関連文書を調査した。チームはまた、記録装置を作り、地元の病院で試用した。その後チームは、教育用ソフトウェアを学生が使えるように改良し、2つのグループの学生に試用させた。
