研究概要

がん化すると、細胞表層糖鎖に異常が起こる。とくに、酸性糖シアル酸の異常は、転移や浸潤と深く関わっている。本課題では、新規がん診断・治療法の開発をめざして、シアル酸量を調節する鍵酵素であるシアリダーゼについて研究を進めた。各種ヒトがんで異常亢進する形質膜局在型シアリダーゼは、がんの細胞死を抑制して、悪性度を増強していることを見いだした。そのひとつの機構として、増殖シグナルを過剰に活性化していることが明らかになった。
