研究概要

カンボジア熱帯季節林において、外来樹種は郷土樹種より光合成能力が高いが、乾季に気孔を閉じ気味になること、一方、郷土樹種は乾季も地中深くまで伸ばした根のおかげで雨季に貯えられた地下水を利用して気孔を開け気味にできること、が分かった。東南アジア熱帯雨林の主要樹種であるリュウノウジュを対象として降水遮断実験を行った。樹体内の通水分布を考慮した精密な樹液流計測により単木～個葉スケールの蒸散速度を算定することができ、蒸散と環境因子との対応関係から、乾燥条件の気孔開閉に及ぼす影響を考察した結果、リュウノウジュは乾燥に対して極端に気孔開閉による水利用の節約を行わないということがわかった。
