研究概要

家畜の繁殖率向上は畜産物の生産性向上に直結する。今回、牛およびヤギにおける生殖活動調節に重要な役割を果たしている栄養状態に関連した血液中代謝関連物質に関する知見が得られた。そして、ヤギに対してそれらの物質の血中濃度上昇を促す給餌処置が性ホルモンの分泌亢進、卵胞発育数の増加および排卵数の増加を引き起こすことを明らかにした。家畜の繁殖率を向上させる上で今回の知見は、薬剤に頼らない最も自然で、倫理的および経済的な観点からも有効な新たな飼養管理技術が確立できることを示している。
