研究概要

植物とマラリア原虫の比較ゲノム解析を行った結果、植物受精にとって必須な因子であるGCS1(Generative Cell Specific 1)の相同分子がマラリア原虫にも存在することを見出した。GCS1欠損マラリア原虫を作製しその受精能を検証した結果、GCS1はマラリア原虫においても受精に必須である事、すなわち植物とマラリア原虫の受精メカニズムがGCS1を基盤として営まれている事実を初めて見出した。
