In this project, we investigated (1) which features of the learning environment cause interference during acquisition, (2) how they interfere and (3) to what extent they interfere, across age. In FY2022, to investigate (1), we ran a study at high schools. This study is complete and has been accepted to the Cognitive Science Society Conference, July 2023 (Barbir and Tsuji, 2023). To investigate (2), we ran two studies, one eye-tracking study in the laboratory (Barbir et al, 2022) and one online study with daycare staff (Crimon et al, 2022), and are running a collaborative extension of the study with participants in Paris. To investigate (3), we ran a bigdata study at the Miraikan Science Museum with participants aged 3-87 years old. This study is complete and we are now running analyses on the data.
