研究開始時の研究の概要 |
The Hebb repetition effect (HRE) on a memory task refers to the improvement in the accuracy of recall of a repeated list over random non-repeated lists. Previous research found that the HRE occurs in complex span tasks, we will focus on investigating the necessary conditions for the HRE to occur.

研究実績の概要 |
I conducted three new experiments to gather more concrete evidence on the mechanism underlying the Hebb repetition effect in complex span tasks. The objectives were as follows: a.To directly evaluate the position-item association as the mechanism underlying the Hebb repetition effect in complex span tasks by creating a partial Hebb repetition complex span task; b.To confirm our previous results by testing whether the Hebb repetition effect can be transferred from a simple span task to a complex span task; c.Our previous results suggest that the mechanism underlying the Hebb repetition effect in simple and complex span tasks might be the same. Given that, my last experiment aimed to better understand the processing of distractor stimuli in a Hebb repetition complex span task. The results suggest that distractors do not affect learning by Hebb repetition, the mechanism in both simple and complex span tasks seems to be the same. Distractors are perhaps being removed from Working memory.
The results were presented at the European Society for Cognitive Psychology meeting and published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition. I finished and succesfully defended my doctoral thesis at the end of 2023.
