In this study, the effect of local (in their own university class) and international (living in Canada) L2 role models on the motivation and ideal L2 self will be measured. If results are positive, online exchanges could be recommended for university students learning English.

主な成果は、L2 のモチベーションに対するピア モデリングの重要性を詳細に説明したことです。有能なロール モデルは、対処戦略と自己効力感 (自信に似たもの) を示します。学生はこれらのロール モデルから学び、より優れた英語話者になるために自分の行動を適応させます。この記事では、ミクロ分析を使用して、識別と行動の変化のプロセスを詳しく説明しました。また、この記事では、有能なロール モデルとの識別が理想的な L2 の自己に与える変革効果も示しました。したがって、あらゆる言語学習プログラムの不可欠な要素は、ロール モデル、特にピア モデルです。

| 研究成果の学術的意義や社会的意義 |
Japanese students learning English have often been found to be lacking motivation. One reason is the lack of effective role models. My research shows the positive effect of role models. Students need to see high level ability as well as the behaviours that lead to that high ability.
