This research project explores Christian-Muslim Relations in Japan and China from 1549-1912. It seeks to investigate and analyze texts written by Christians and Muslims about their interactions with each other within the Chinese and Japanese contexts.
The project will try to answer two principle questions:
1. How did Christians and Muslims interact historically in China and Japan between 1549 and 1912? 2. How did Christians in Japan and China describe Muslims and their interactions with Muslims in the texts that they composed?
