研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This research examines how folklore literature, cultural narrative and belief inform our understanding of geography, and assesses the educational nature of folklore and its role in shaping past, present and future perceptions of geography through its traditions, customs and literary imaginings.

研究実績の概要 |
I published one article in an international, peer-reviewed journal and have two books chapters accepted by Palgrave and Routledge. A peer-reviewed article has been accepted by Revenant Journal. A co-authored paper is currently under review, and I'm editing a themed section for Literary Geographies journal, due for publication in August 2023. My monograph, "Literary Geography and the Spatiality of Folklore", is under contract with University of Wales Press (UK), to be submitted in May 2024. Additionally, I have presented at 3 international conferences, delivered 2 invited papers, and one given one guest lecture.

理由
The project is progressing well and more smoothly than I had anticipated given the effects of the pandemic. Opportunities to publish research from my project have been growing steadily and I've been invited to speak at a number of events on the topics of my research. The research has also made possible new collaborations and networking opportunities, and, thanks to these, I've received invitations to speak and publish on the themes of the project internationally. The recent lifting of restrictions on travel has made it possible to disseminate my work at international conferences and seminars, conduct research at institutional archives, and network with like-minded researchers. All of this has contributed to the development of the research project in the current year of funding.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The final year of the project will be used to conduct research in order to complete the manuscript for my monograph. Additionally, attendance at international conferences to disseminate my work and trips for archival research will be conducted. I plan to organise a literary geography symposium to coincide with the final stages of the project, intended to be held early 2024.
