| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
In both Japanese and Korean, the lexicon is made up of different strata: native words, Chinese borrowings, more recently adopted ‘foreign’ loanwords, and so-called mimetic words. The purpose of this project is to investigate how lexical stratification works. More concretely, the goals are to describe and compare the stratum-specific morphological and phonological patterns in Japanese and Korean, to measure the degree of stratification in the two languages, to account for the similarities and differences that will be uncovered, and to develop a network-based model of lexical stratification.

| 研究実績の概要 |
My work on the interaction between accent and morphology in Japanese and Korean dialects was published in a journal article, and my work on vowel harmony in Korean was published in an edited volume. I also worked on morpho-phonological alternations in Sino-Japanese and Sino-Korean. I presented the Sino-Japanese part of this work at a research meeting. I also looked in more detail at lexical stratification in the accent systems of Japanese and Korean dialects. On the theoretical side, I worked on the integration of Autosegmental Phonology with Relational Morphology.

理由
I was able to solve a number of problems in the morpho-phonology of Sino-Japanese and Sino-Korean. Moreover, I found a way to integrate important elements of Autosegmental Phonology in Relational Morphology. On the other hand, I couldn't make enough time to present more of my work at conferences and research meetings.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Next year, I will continue my work on accent patterns across different lexical strata in Japanese and Korean dialects. On the theoretical side, I will continue my work on the integration of Autosegmental Phonology with Relational Morphology. Apart from this, I will present more of my findings at conferences and write and submit several articles.
