| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This project examines the management of public attitudes toward globalization in Japan. The study employs experimental methods to examine the effect of exposure to globalization on public support for open policies. The work focuses specifically on the impact of cultural threat on public attitudes towards foreign workers and immigration.

| 研究成果の概要 |
During the current year a nationally representative survey with embedded experiments was fielded. The survey experiments were designed to examine the impact of the increase in foreign workers in Japan on attitudes toward globalization and immigration.

| 研究成果の学術的意義や社会的意義 |
Immigration policy is only sustainable if supported by the public. The objective of this project is to better understand attitudes toward immigration, the social impact of increased foreign contact, and to examine the types of interaction the Japanese public prefers to have with foreign populations.
