研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This research examines why Japan is seemingly immune to the resurgence of populism, which is plaguing many democracies in today’s age of fake news and post-truth. It employs a quantitative approach with original survey data and a framework based on the cultural backlash and tipping point theories.

研究実績の概要 |
In AY2023, the project proceeded as planned with most key objectives successfully completed. First, I presented my research results at two academic conferences (the 16th ITS Asia-Pacific Conference in Thailand and the 48th JSICR conference in Japan) and one invited workshop (CENS Workshop on DRUMS in Singapore). Second, I published the results of my studies in two peer-reviewed academic journals (Journal of Information and Communication Research and Telematics and Informatics Reports) and as a book chapter (Communication Research on Health Disparities and Coping Strategies in COVID-19 Related Crises). Moreover, the paper published in the Journal of Information and Communication Research received the 24th JSCIR Best Paper Award in 2023.
