研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This project explores the socio-professional impact of AI-teacher/teaching tools on the human teachers who use them in class. It yields new indices that can be used to rethink educational methods, assess and manage potential risks to the teaching profession, and even influence educational policies.
|
研究実績の概要 |
This year's main achievements are: 1. Finalised and published an in-depth taxonomic work on teacher categories of AI facial emotion recognition (FER) tools, based on established theories in educational psychology and primary data collected from teachers from three continents. 2. Obtained metrics which demonstrate that the previously developed FER model's predictive accuracy and agreement with actual values are comparable, if not superior, to existing state-of-the-art solutions. This work has been accepted for publication and is forthcoming. 3. The results of the investigation on the impact of a speech recognition tool for teaching English pronunciation on in-service Japanese teachers of English who use it in class, are currently under review for publication.

理由
Although rigorous sociological research involving teachers has proved difficult, due to the busy agenda laid out for them each day and other constrains, research progress has been quite steady.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Further investigation on teachers' experiences and opinions using AI is ongoing. Efforts to pilot in schools the AI tool for education developed by this project are also ongoing, with the scope of obtaining teachers' feedback for comparison with our previous findings which used synthetic data.
