この研究は、生活者の安全・安心に対する考え方やリスク管理の実態を把握するとともに、それらの規定要因を、日本・米国・中国において、さらには東日本大震災の発生前および発生後のデータを比較しながら検討するものである。3 カ国の生活者を対象としてアンケート調査を実施した。主な結果として、日本人回答者の生活リスクへの不安の程度は総じて高い。とくに地震と原発事故へのリスク認知は東日本大震災を経験することでさらに高まった。いっぽう、リスク管理の専門機関に対する信頼の程度は日本で最も低く、リスク管理機関への信頼と不安のあいだには関連がある。安心志向性の高い日本にあっては、信頼の構築をふまえたリスクコミュニケーションの推進が重要であることがあらためて確認された。
