研究概要

本研究では,モンゴル国や南シベリア方面のアルタイ山脈周辺地域で,突厥などの古代遊牧民の埋葬遺跡や遺物を現地の研究機関と共同で実施してきた.その結果,青銅器時代の遺跡を,後代に死者の記念碑や墓碑銘として再利用している事例が確認された.この背景には,遊牧民特有の実利的な考えと並んで,当地の祖霊を自分たちの信仰対象にするという彼ら独自の崇拝形態が窺えるものといえよう.
