研究概要

大規模場の運動と水蒸気変動の関係を調べた.その結果,大規模場の運動に伴って水蒸気は3-4日周期の変動をしており,この3-4日変動がSSTの顕著な日周期により変調を受けた結果として,可降水量の日周期がみられることが分かった.この水蒸気の変動は,熱帯で最も卓越する大気擾乱の1つであるマッデン・ジュリアン振動の発達期に観測されたという点で重要で,マッデン・ジュリアン振動のメカニズム解明にも繋がる可能性のある成果である.
