研究概要

インド南部および北海道の白亜紀の地層から産出した軟体動物化石(とくにアンモナイト類とオウムガイ類)をもとに,多様性変動や孵化サイズの変遷史を解析した.白亜紀末の大量絶滅事変前後でオウムガイ類の孵化サイズには大きな変化は認められない.古生代～中生代を通じて解析したところ,古生代から中生代にかけて孵化サイズが増大したことが明らかになったので,同所的種分化が多様性変動に大きな役割を担っていた可能性を示唆した.
