研究開始時の研究の概要 |
The study will increase the understanding of basic physical and chemical conditions involved in fault zones formation. A better understanding of these processes has many applications as shallow fault activity is of critical importance for the evaluation of earthquake hazards and applications for civil engineering. It is essential to reduce risks for resources exploration (ore bodies, hydrocarbons, geothermal fields) and environmental applications (water resources etc.) and also in accessing suitability of waste storage sites including nuclear waste

研究実績の概要 |
The main part of the grant involves dedicated milling experiments at Bern University, Switzerland. Due to COVID international travel restrictions it was not possible to conduct experiments during in the first years of the grant. Additional preparations have been made to conduct streamlined experiments in year 3 of the grant from 06/2024
