研究開始時の研究の概要 |
The internet offers a useful way to engage with stakeholders in the general public and to get their feedback on important issues. But how to do this effectively still needs investigation. This research will develop online tools for community decision-making regarding complex environmental and social problems.

研究実績の概要 |
In the 2022 financial year the project was gradually advanced, with some initial useful outcomes. Three research meetings were held domestically in Kyushu and Kyoto. The evaluation of some of the end uses of minerals in transportation, from the perspective of environmental and resource impacts were undertaken. This work considered the shift from petrol to electric vehicles in Australia, considering the shift of environmental burdens from urban to rural communities. The base data will be used in the next phase of the deliberation in the project. The focus of Just Transition was clarified for the project, as the importance of social equity in energy and resource transitions is still lacking - particularly for critical mineral producing communities that are indirectly impacted by the energy transition. Australia has been identified as one important case study and data sources are available for the research there. The project also leveraged synergies with another to evaluate public understanding of Just Transitions and the priority for hydrogen economy options. These initial results were reported in 3 international conference papers and 3 invited lectures at different international conferences. Some baseline surveys were undertaken that will help build the final interaction platform.

現在までの達成度 (区分)
3: やや遅れている
理由
During the first half of the financial year, the COVID-19 situation was still prevalent, so the lack of face-to-face activities slowed the progress. From the second half of the year student interaction and conference activities have improved the opportunity to progress the project. So we were able to hold some direct meetings in Kyoto and Kyushu.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the upcoming year we will progress the LCA of deep sea and alternative resources will be pursued, as well as the development of the online platform. It is expected that from the second half of the year an RA will be employed for this purpose. It is planned that the LCA data and initial survey format should be available by the end of the year.
