研究開始時の研究の概要 |
Through theoretical, archival, and practice-led research, this project will define the interpenetration of born-digital and print literature. Born-digital literature refers to literary works that are native to the digital environment. Unlike e-books, for example, which are simply digital representations of print, born-digital works are dependent on computers and code to exist. Unlike print text, which is static, born-digital text uses code to denote behaviour to the text. This project explores how print and born-digital works influence each other in creative and critical practice/research.

理由
The realisation of my monograph now requires simply the completion of writing the proposed manuscript. A contract was signed last year. The book will be published in 2024, assuming all goes according to plan. My research trip to the United States, conducted in March, 2023, has provided me with the necessary information to finish the work. Research conducted at the New York Public Library, the Houghton Library at Harvard University, the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, and the Electronic Literature Lab at Washington State University will enable me to complete the research project without delay, despite previous interruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional practice-led research and papers are currently under consideration for publication, and proposed presentations have been accepted by the ELO conference to be held in Coimbra, Portugal in 2023.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the following year I intend to complete the draft of the manuscript, Digital Literary Creative Practice: Six Memos for Writers in the Current Millennium. Ideally I will submit this to my publisher ahead of schedule. I have had two presentations accepted for the ELO 2023 conference to be held in Coimbra, Portugal. The practice-led research Tardy Student Punishment Simulator will be published by Taper. I have one paper accepted for publication with RCL. I have also submitted another expression of interest to publish a paper with TEXT journal. I intend to submit further research at the AAWP conference to be held in Canberra in November, 2023.
