| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
Using multiple sources of information from six countries in Southeast Asia and Latin America, this project will describe the structure of corruption across industries and levels of government, producing a multidimensional scoring strategy that will help in the development of more effective policies.

| 研究実績の概要 |
Data collection from Indonesia (for news articles), Thailand, and Vietnam has been completed. Data analysis from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam is being conducted. The analysis is focusing on news articles and public procurement. Additionally, the measurement of corruption tolerance has been further developed to include the collection and analysis of legal documents, complementing the planned assessment of individual attitudes and behavior. These results advance the planned activities for FY2022 and FY2023.
Socialization of the research topic has been ongoing since January 2022, and it continued during 20203. 28 roundtable sessions on the measurement of corruption have been organized so far. These results advance the planned activities for FY2022 and FY2023.

理由
The original plan had proposed the collection and analysis of satellite imagery. This process was started but proved unexpetadly difficult to reach the level of quality needed. In particular, the available data was not of sufficient quality to allow the implementation of the measurement instrument designed for that purpose. As a consequence, this line of research has been abandoned.
Additionally, difficulties finding research assistants to support data collection and analysis in Indonesia has also caused significant delays.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
During FY2024, work will focus on (1) finalizing data collection for Indonesia, (2) finalizing data analysis for all selected countries, and (3) continous socialization in online roundtables and international conferences.
Additionally, attendance to one international conference and drafting of three manuscripts (one on news articles, one on public procurement, and one on comparative legislation) for peer-review are planned.
