研究概要

南極ドームふじおよびグリーンランドNGRIP・NEEMで掘削された深層氷床コアを高時間分解能で分析し、過去13万年間にわたる大気中のCH_4濃度変動を復元した。得られた両極域におけるCH_4濃度差を大気モデルで解析することにより、自然起源CH_4放出の時間空間変動を明らかにした。また、ドームふじコアについてはCH_4のδ^<13>CとδDの分析も実施し、両者の時間変動を復元するとともに、それを基にしてCH_4濃度に影響を及ぼしたと考えられる自然放出源を推定し、氷期-間氷期におけるCH4濃度変動の解釈を行った。
