研究概要

老化により舌や口の周りにある筋のサイズが小さくなったり(萎縮)、筋力が弱くなったりするときのmiRNA(20塩基前後の小さいRNA)の働きと筋萎縮の予防法について調べた。その結果、miRNAが舌や口の周りにある筋ができてくる時に非常に大事な働きをしていることが明らかになった。このmiRNAを利用して老化により舌や口の周りにある筋の萎縮を予防できるかもしれない。
