研究概要

BAALC(brain and acute leukemia, cytoplasmic)は、予後不良の急性骨髄性白血病において発現が上昇するが、その機能は不明であった。本研究では遺伝子改変マウスを用いて、BAALCが造血幹細胞ニッチの機能維持に重要であること、BAALCがp53機能を通じて静止期にある造血幹細胞を制御していることを明らかにした。本研究の成果はBAALCの新たな造血幹細胞制御分子としての機能を明らかとし、難治性白血病の新規治療法につながるものである。
