研究概要

浅部化石付加体である三浦-房総付加体に発達する沈み込み帯前縁断層(白子断層、浅間断層)を対象として粘土鉱物分析を行った。その結果、いずれの断層においても断層内部(断層ガウジ)における局所的なスメクタイト-イライト相転移反応の進行が見られた。この反応はおそらく断層運動時の摩擦発熱によるものと考えられ、地震性の高速すべりが付加体先端部まで到達していたことの物的証拠と考えられる。
