研究開始時の研究の概要 |
The motivation of this research is the development of advanced metal oxide materials and their composites for hazardous hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) mitigation. The removal of Cr(VI) ions from contaminated water can be achieved by either adsorption or photoreduction process. The development of this study would be beneficial for wastewater treatment technology toward sustainability.

研究実績の概要 |
Fabrication of iron oxide nanostructures exhibiting combinatorial morphologies using anodic and thermal oxidation was performed. The Cr(VI) removal property by adsorption and photoreduction was also evaluated.

理由
The intercorrelation of the iron oxide nanostructures with their property and Cr(VI) removal have been investigated and tabulated. Good Cr(VI) removal by adsorption was obtained. However, photoreduction of Cr(VI) using the iron oxide nanostructures was low and needed to be improved.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Investigation of the photoelectrochemical property of iron oxide nanostructures and development of new oxide composites for the photoreduction of Cr(VI) will be carried out.
