研究開始時の研究の概要 |
A practical study that visually investigates anticipated landscape change and photomedia literacy of young learners in the Tohoku region through collaborative rephotography workshops developed with international students of University of Tsukuba for high school students living in and near the site of the proposed International Linear Collider (ILC).
|
研究実績の概要 |
Location research for PHASE ONE was carried out in the region where the International Linear Collider (ILC) is hoped to be built. This fieldwork included rephotography conducted in July by the PI and 2 university students in 4 locations (Ichinoseki, Daito-cho, Oshu, Tono). Further rephotography was conducted by the PI in September (Kitakami, Daito-cho, Ichinoseki) and February (Tono, Hanamaki). Draft photobooks were made for every location (total of 16 books). Each photobook contains visual documentation of change (e.g. photographs, maps) that will facilitate rephotography in planned workshops. Although a project blog was created, other options for a public online archive of images will be considered.

理由
The ILC is hoped to benefit all of Iwate prefecture. However, the scale of change in the region to be researched is larger than anticipated. The increased level of detail and kinds of change recorded has needed modifications to the number of field trips in PHASE ONE. Therefore, PHASE TWO is slightly delayed with workshops beginning in autumn 2023. This delay also allows time to develop more community connections for organising workshops in selected areas.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
PHASE ONE will be completed in early 2023 with two further trips to carry out rephotographic fieldwork of the region (e.g. Kitakami, Hanamaki, Oshu, Daito-cho). Photobooks are expected to be made for each location from these trips. PHASE TWO is still expected to comprise 9 on-location photomedia workshops with high school students carried out between 2023 and 2025. The first of these is hoped to take place in autumn 2023. The workshops will be facilitated by the PI and international students at University of Tsukuba. Opportunities to exhibit the fieldwork will also be sought (e.g. a PI exhibition at University of Tsukuba in summer 2023) and steps will be taken to put the rephotographic archive online. Following that, research reports will be submitted to open-access knowledge platforms.
