研究開始時の研究の概要 |
The researcher wants to investigate the intersection between law and human-robot interaction (HRI) with a focus on the role of value-sensitive design (VSD) and its potential to be used as a mean to transfer computer codes into the code-driven soft law for emerging data governance on social robots.
|
研究実績の概要 |
To conduct the theoretical study, I gave several presentations on ethics, value-sensitive design in order to collect feedbacks from the public as well as adademia. As for the achievements in the first year, I gave presentations under workshops at IEEE RO-MAN 2022, IEEE IROS 2022, JURIX 2022, HKU LawTech Talk respectively, and an interactive lecture at National Taiwan University. The IRB application for conducting robot experiemnts has been accepted by Tohoku University. Later, I am going to write a book chapter by referring people's feedbacks. My research conlcusion of the first theoratical study will be published at The Cambridge Handbook on the Law, Policy, and Regulations for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI).

理由
The two-and-half-year project includes three main parts as theoretical study, affective computing and privacy by design, informed consent in HRI. The first part theoretical study has been successfully realized. The research output is submitting as a book chapter to the Cambridge Handbook on the Law, Policy, and Regulations for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI).

今後の研究の推進方策 |
How to conduct empirical approach into the study of robot governance based on value-sensitive design is the core to the project. After the theoretical study, I will continue to expand my investigation from value-sensitive design theory into human-robot interaction experiments. In affective computing and privacy by design, I bought a social communication robot LOVOT for the study “The assessment of the impact on users’ privacy posed by the social robots from a human centered perspective”. The assessment got the IRB approval from Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University (Number: 22A-26). Except to HRI experiments, I will invite researchers from University of Oslo to have an international collaboration on this topic.
