研究成果の概要

本研究は、16世紀スペインにおける後期サラマンカ学派が政治的諸問題を論じる際の基盤にしていた、神の恩寵と人間の自由意志の関係をめぐる諸議論を検討したものである。このことにより、イエズス会士を中心とする彼らが、社会契約説に代表される同時代の主流理論とは別の形で、初期近代政治思想の一潮流を形成したことを明らかにした。それは、初期近代が内包していた脱中世型政治体探求の豊かなヴァリエーションの一端として、注目される。
