研究概要

インドネシアの島嶼に分布するネズミ科の寄生線虫類について，形態とDNA塩基配列から分散と種分化過程を宿主との共進化の視点から研究した。スラウェシ島の固有ネズミのうち新土着種からSyphacia属蟯虫の新亜属を含む5新種を発見した。一方同島の旧土着ネズミにはSyphaciaは検出されず，ヘテラキス科の新属が得られた。ハルマヘラ島の固有ネズミには別のSyphaciaの新種が検出された。DNA塩基配列の解読は一部の種について成功し，系統解析の結果，スラウェシ島の種はユーラシア産種とは基部近くで分岐しているが，S. murisと同じクレードに入るので，新土着種と共にスラウェシ島に分散したと推定された。
