研究概要

野菜残渣の飼料化をはかり、食品リサイクル率の向上と飼料コストの削減を狙うと同時に、反芻家畜からのメタン生成を低減させることを最終目的として、ルーメン内微生物の亜硝酸還元能の増強に着目した。本研究期間では、高濃度の硝酸を給与した場合の反芻胃内における共生微生物生態系について解析し、Selenomonas ruminantiumという細菌のうち、特に硝酸・亜硝酸還元能を持つ菌株が増加し、反芻胃内の亜硝酸還元において主要な役割を担うことを見出した。
