研究概要

新生児皮下脂肪壊死症は、仮死、低酸素血症などを契機に、生後1－3週間以内に、上背部、頚部、上腕、などに好発する。この疾患は褐色脂肪細胞の変性であるとの仮説を立てて、病理組織標本のUCP-1染色を行なったところ、UCP-1染色陽性の細胞が認められた。電子顕微鏡標本でも小さい脂肪滴とミトコンドリアを有する変性過程の褐色脂肪細胞と思われる細胞を多数認めた。患児の18FDG（18F-fluorodeoxyglucose）PET-CTで、 18FDGの病変部への取込みを測定し、その低下を認めた。これは病変部の褐色脂肪組織の減少を示唆した。
この事から、この疾患の病変の主座は褐色脂肪組織であると推論した。
