研究成果の概要

同位体大気海洋結合モデルを構築した。衛星観測による水蒸気同位体比データをモデル結果と比較し、鉛直構造や水平輸送過程との関連を調べた。その結果、雲粒や雨滴からの再蒸発過程に伴う同位体交換が特に西部太平洋及び海洋大陸における対流圏中層の水蒸気同位体比に影響していることを見出した。また、同位体海洋モデルによって表現される海水同位体比とサンゴ同位体比と比較する手法を確立し、簡素な鉛直一次元モデルであっても年々及び季節変動を再現することは可能であるが、大河川の河口部やデルタ地域などでは海洋大循環による影響が大きいことを明らかにした。さらに同位体データ同化システムを世界で初めて構築した。
