研究概要

グリーンランドの気温変動はグリーンランドの氷床融解に大きく影響する因子の一つであり、氷床の変動は海水準を通じて世界中の沿岸地域に影響する。そのため、グリーンランドの過去の気温変動とそのメカニズムを理解することは極めて重要である。この科研費を通じて、空気抽出装置を国立極地研究所に製作するところから開始し、グリーンランド氷床の北側に位置する場所から得られたNGRIPコアの過去2000年の全期間のアルゴンと窒素の同位体比をよい精度で分析することができた。結果、過去2000年間NGRIPはグリーンランドのサミットと似た気温変動を経験したことが分かった。
