研究概要

ラテン語は印欧語族に属する言語であるが、印欧祖語に再建される複雑な名詞形態法を大幅に単純化している。しかし、他の印欧諸語との比較によって、古い時代の形態的痕跡の一部が明らかとなり、その一方でラテン語内部において生じたよく似た手法が一定の汎用性をもつに至っていたことが判明した。また、しばしば印欧語な形態法によって説明されようとしていたある神格名詞が、ラテン語内部の特殊な形成であることが分かった。
