研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This project aims to improve our understanding of how the tropical Pacific and Atlantic oceans interact on seasonal to decadal time scales. Dedicated experiments with two climate models will be performed to examine interaction pathways between the two basins and to quantify their importance. Statistical models will be trained to replicate the results of the model experiments. These statistical models will then be applied to an existing large database of climate model simulations. The ultimate goal is to improve the prediction skill for El Nino and related phenomena.
