This research will investigate methods of instructed vocabulary acquisition using state-of-the-art computer-assisted language learning technology. The researcher will combine deliberate and contextual learning methods to help learners develop vocabulary knowledge quality.

研究実績の概要 |
This project was centered on the creation and refinement CALL materials designed to enhance vocabulary acquisition for real-time use. The objective was to integrate vocabulary frequency data into the learning process, thereby enabling learners to prioritize learning targets while engaging with authentic audiobook content. Engagement with contents was supported by classroom discussions and online forum interactions, fostering a comprehensive learning environment. CALL materials were integrated into the process, with structured classroom discussions and guided activities on online forums designed to foster engagement and facilitate usage of the vocabulary learned. Presentations at language learning conferences enabled the researcher to disseminate methodologies and invite peer feedback.

理由
The project has shown good progress in terms of materials development, learner engagement, and vocabulary retention. This year, the Moodle Database function was utilized to facilitate learners' section summarizing, which has resulted in participants’ greater understanding of contents. This helps them to focus more deeply on the contents of materials, and they have demonstrated the ability to discuss and apply more ideas in class. This innovative approach not only enhances traditional vocabulary learning techniques but also encourages active and practical use of new language elements. The continued refinement of these materials, informed by ongoing feedback and technological advancements, will contribute to the evolution of effective language learning tools.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Next year, the project will expand on the integration of section summaries and forums within CALL materials, focusing on enhancing the range and depth of resources available to learners. To foster deeper comprehension and more dynamic use of vocabulary, the project will also introduce assigned speaking tasks that include structured discussion prompts and activities that promote critical thinking and contextual vocabulary use. The ultimate goal for the coming year is to move toward data collection. As this year was mostly spent developing materials to facilitate comprehension of the authentic main text. In this coming year I plan to begin focusing on analyzing learning outcomes. I will continue to disseminate findings through conference presentations, and at the end of the year will submit a book chapter as part of a collaborative project.
