研究開始時の研究の概要

Complementing the studies that focus on the external contexts as the main driver of corporate environmental responsibility, the current research aims to uncover the internal organizational conditions that lead firms to take greener initiatives.

研究実績の概要

The current study examines the internal and external antecedents of corporate green initiatives. I completed the following tasks related to the project this year. First, I reviewed the literature on corporate environmental sustainability to highlight this study's main contribution. Second, I collected relevant data and tested various hypotheses from which I completed writing manuscripts. Third, the preliminary results were shared at three domestic conferences in Japan. Also, one manuscript was accepted for presentation at several international conferences in the year 2024. Finally, one of the manuscripts was submitted to an international journal and it is currently under review, and another manuscript is under preparation for submission to another international journal.

The key findings from the project are that corporate environmental actions, both in terms of managerial and technological innovations, are jointly shaped by internal and external factors. Internal factors, including executives' climate vigilance and feedback on their current environmental performance, are key to triggering their search for more environmental solutions. These internal factors work in tandem with external environments, including temporal, industry, and country, that critically shape the decision makers' choices to take greener initiatives.

理由

The research is progressing smoothly. I found various results, which can be highlighted in multiple manuscripts. Due to this, the allocation of time was divided into producing more than one manuscript.

今後の研究の推進方策

In next fiscal year, I am aiming to present my work at international conferences and submit another manuscript to an international journal. Aside from the results included in the working manuscripts, some of the results are worthy of deeper investigation. I plan to prepare a new proposal that can further develop these findings.
