| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
Global environmental crisis, surging nationalism, and China’s rise are each changing our world. How do they connect? This research will show such interactions in a large but understudied region where China and India meet the long wars of Burma (Myanmar).

| 研究実績の概要 |
Main achievements:
1) Did two several-week-long ethnographic fieldwork sessions. These helped me learn about the changes in Kachin society, environmental and ethnic issues, and the broader region during and after COVID and Burma's military-political crisis;
2) Finished the transcription/translation of field interview recordings;
3) Three manuscripts have been accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals; Prepared three more manuscripts to be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
4) Gave talks and participated in three research workshops/conferences; gave an invited talk at a departmental seminar.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
I plan to continue the research largely according to the original project plan. Work will include more fieldwork, analysing existing interviews and fieldnotes, participating in 2 upcoming conferences/workshops, and finish writing three manuscripts.
