研究実績の概要 |
Stable water isotopes have been widely used to investigate the moisture sources and hydrological processes based on limited ground-based observations. In this project, we combine isotopic field observation and numerical simulation to investigate the major moisture sources and their corresponding moisture transport and thermodynamic processes with respect to large-scale circulations for Meiyu-Baiu rainfall. Moisture sources and isotopic composition of the 2020 heavy Meiyu-Baiu rainfall in East Asia have beed investigated based on the isotopic observations and the IsoRSM simulations.

理由
Difference and similarity of moisture sources and isotopic composition between the 2020 Kumamoto heavy rainfall and the 2020 Yangtze River valley heavy Meiyu-Baiu rainfall have been investigated. These new results have been published in Atmospheric Research (Atmos Res. 2024, 297, 107114), and presented in the 2023 MSJ autumn meeting in Sendai. The last 20-year simulations of moisture sources and isotopic composition of Meiyu-Baiu rainfall in Southwestern Japan is going on.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The last 20-year (2004-2023) simulations of moisture sources and isotopic composition of Meiyu-Baiu rainfall in Southwestern Japan is going on. The new results will be presented in JpGU and the MSJ spring meeting in May 2024. A second paper is also planned to clarify the interannual variations of moisture sources and isotopic composition of the Meiyu-Baiu rainfall in southwest Japan.
