This study uses a set of models to investigate the mutual impact of biodiversity conservation and food security on each other within climate stabilization targets. It further explores conservation scenarios and food system transformation measures that harmonize three aspects.

| 研究実績の概要 |
In this fiscal year, we have conducted data collection and processing, parameter estimation, scenario exploration, and the investigation of demand-side transformation measures. Data for agricultural production and food consumption from various sources were collected and processed. In addition, parameters for global land use change model were estimated. For scenario exploration, we have collected and analyzed scenarios for food consumption, climate mitigation, and biodiversity conservation. For the investigation of demand-side transformation measures, we performed a meta-analysis of the effective intervention measures for food waste reduction. Based on key words search on main literature databases, we identified 703 relevant studies and 112 were included in the meta-analysis after screening. The intervention measures were classified into six categories (information provision, commitment, feedback, incentives, goal setting, and choice architecture). Results suggest that all measures are effective by reducing food waste by 21% to 34.8%. Incentive is the most efficient intervention measure. Since switching to meat substitute is proposed as a vital demand-side transformation measure and it is expected to contribute substantially to the sustainable food system, we analyzed consumers' preference to plant-based meat with large-scale consumer survey data. Results suggest that among 13 main attributes of plant-based meat, consumers value nutrition and health attribute the most. In addition, preference heterogeneity was identified among different socioeconomic groups.

Data processing and parameter estimation were conducted as scheduled. A meta-analysis and survey data analysis were also performed. However, the progress of simulation analysis was slightly slow due to the difficulties and delay in model construction.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the next fiscal year, more efforts should be allocated to model construction and simulation analysis. So far, food security and climate mitigation have been extensively invetigated. Next, biodiversity conservation should be investigated.
