| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This research aims to examine the implications and prospects of energy governance and regulations on "just transitions" that promote cleaner energy access that also enhances societal equity in selected African countries. It will use fieldwork surveys and desktop based analysis.

| 研究実績の概要 |
The first stage of the project is progressing well. In this first six months the post-doc researcher has been actively reviewing existing literature and compiling it, while advancing the framework development before fieldwork starts this academic year. Energy justice concepts are often seen from a Western perspective, and part of the progress so far has been establishing networks in non-Western areas, including the main target area of Africa. Moreover, one article has been submitted, while a review article: Characterizing injustices in clean energy transitions in Africa has been drafted to be submitted to by mid-May after final internal review. A number of conference presentations have been made, and a further presentation is expected to be made at the World Energy Justice Congress. Preparation for the next phase is well under way, with the identification of sites and collaborators for case studies. The project has identified that only a limited number of research projects have considered energy injustices in African contexts, particularly in relation to renewable energy. Many of these studies indicate that the conventional perspectives and institutions often fail to sufficiently address the needs of communities.

理由
The project is only 6months into its term,but it is progressing well. The preliminary review has been ongoing, and the results have led to a paper that is almost ready for submission. The collaboration network for the next stage - the field research - is in development, and a number of conference presentations have been made already.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the next year will be the crucial component of the research, involving the fieldwork at case study sites in Ghana. Before then, a questionnaire is being designed (to be administered online) to elicit the perpectives of energy sector actors on regulations and just energy transitions in Africa in line with the proposal. This will further supplement the questionnaire and interviews to be undertaken in the fieldwork.
