研究成果の概要

湖沼の季節的な環境変化が、堆積物中に微細なラミナ構造として保存される場合がある。これを年縞（Valve）とよぶ。本研究では(a)火山性湖沼 (b)沿岸性汽水湖沼 (c)極域の湖沼 (d)乾燥域の塩性湖沼における年縞について検討を行った。年縞ごとにこれを構成する珪藻を詳細に検討することによって、気候変動のみならず洪水地震津波などの災害についても多くの環境情報を年縞から読み取ることが可能となることを示した。
