| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
As competition over water intensifies globally, so do concerns about increasing inequities. Yet, which causal pathways may lead to such political outcomes? Building on political ecology, this research will identify mechanisms linked with water governance that may shape inequities in Asia & Africa.

| 研究実績の概要 |
In FY 2024, the work comprised fieldwork research, analysis of secondary literature, and regular meetings.
Based on fieldwork and secondary data analysis, one member focused on
rural water management in Guizhou province (China) and emerging climate governance in Laos. In Sri Lanka, another member conducted fieldwork to analyze understanding of water stresses. In the Philippines, one member conducted fieldwork to understand water stresses and adaptation responses by the state. Other members analyzed water stresses for low-income populations in Kenya, Africa, and governance responses in Japan to water issues.
Results of the research have been regularly shared in study meetings with project members in 2024 (May, June, September, October, December) and 2025 (January, February, April).

理由
Fieldwork research and secondary data analysis is being conducted as planned. In light of insights from fieldwork and discussion with members, each researcher has been able to refine their understanding. Also, members are already considering how different methods could contribute to analysis.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
In FY 2025, researchers will conduct additional fieldwork in their respective case studies to build on insights already gained in FY 2024. Also, they will work on possible publications that can be done together as well as on their case studies.
