| 研究開始時の研究の概要 |
The research aims to investigate the efficacy of word learning strategies. Specifically, whether it is more efficient for Japanese students to use word cards in an intensive (massed) way or whether vocabulary is better retained through spaced learning.
|
| 研究実績の概要 |
Data collection for the project has commenced, and so far data for 55 participants has been collected, working towards a total of around 80 to 85 participants. Early analysis of the data suggests that there is a significant advantage to flashcard learning in a spaced rather than a massed condition in all post-treatment tests. It also appears that participants with a better receptive vocabulary level perform better than those with a lower level in pair-associate flashcard learning. Our team have been invited to the Vocab@Maryland (June 2025) conference to present these initial findings and discuss their implication for second language learners.

理由
We anticipated collecting data from 60 participants in the initial year to allow for a preliminary analysis. With 55 participants, we are therefore on track to meet this initial target.
|
| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Ongoing data collection is expected to allow for robust analysis. We will continue to collect data on flashcard use with an aim to publishing our findings in an international journal.
