Workplace mental health has received unprecedented concern in modern societies. In Japan, for instance, given the continuous weakening of the Yen and labor shortages resulting in actual income reductions and work overload, individuals are experiencing Effort-Reward Imbalance (ERI) at work, characterized by high effort and low reward conditions, leading to negative emotional outcomes such as anxiety and depression. This research project aims to clarify the determinants of the change of ERI as well as the longitudinal effect of ERI on employee mental health.
