研究成果の概要

陽電子放射型断層撮像法（PET）と磁気共鳴画像化法（MRI）を組み合わせたPET/MRI装置は，機能画像と軟部組織コントラストに優れた解剖学的画像を同時撮像可能なことから注目されている。しかしPET/MRI装置を用いても，老化や種々の疾患の原因とされるフリーラジカルに関する情報と，それに伴う機能変化画像を得ることはできない。オーバーハウザー効果MRI（OMRI）は生体中のフリーラジカル分布を測定可能な手法であり，PETと一体化することで革新的な分子イメージングが可能となる。そこで、世界で初めてPET/OMRI一体型装置の開発を行い，フリーラジカルの分布とPET画像の同時撮像を実現した。
