研究開始時の研究の概要

This research reveals why few students come from Central Asia (CA) to Japan; the reasons behind this trend; and the broader implications for Japan-CA cooperation in higher education. The study uses document analysis, questionnaire-type surveys, and interviews with students, university administrators and national policy makers in CA countries and Japan to consider how student mobility is shaped by bilateral cooperation. In particular, it considers the national, institutional, private sector and interpersonal efforts to establish programs for student mobility.
