文字認知が困難な児童生徒の能動的読書を可能にするため、マルチモーダル教科書の開発を行った。マルチモーダル教科書の統一的作成システムが完成し、教科書のPDFファイルから半自動的にマルチモーダル教科書を作成できるようになり、作業効率が大幅に向上した。全国の約８割の小中学生が使用する国語の教科書に対応する音声付教科書が完成し、中学英語、中学公民等の科目の音声付教科書も制作した。さらに、連携研究者とともにNPO法人を立ち上げ、希望者には実費で音声付教科書を提供する環境の整備を行った。
